Donald J.C. Elliott, Q.C. has been practising law in Sarnia since 1971. Initially, Donald practiced with a classmate, J. Paul Rivers as Rivers and Elliott. In 1973, Donald became associated with Fred E. Dally, Q.C. and they practised in association for many years until Fred retired. Donald received the designation of Queens Counsel in 1983.
For years, starting the 1st of January, 1973, Donald practised in the same physical location in the Northgate Plaza on Exmouth Street, now the office is located on Mitton St South. The firm for many years was called Dally & Elliott.
Laurie Gardiner started working for Donald in 1995 and eventually secured a law degree in 2012. She is now in full practice and the firm has been renamed Elliott Gardiner.

Don Elliott was born in Niagara-on-the-Lake. He attended Niagara District High School and then attended Carleton University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton University in 1966. He attended law school at the University of Western and graduated in 1969. Don was called to the bar in 1971 after articling with Siskind, Taggart and Cromarty, in London, Ontario.
Don started practising with Paul Rivers, in Sarnia, in 1971 at 110 Elgin Street as Rivers and Elliott until the 1st of January 1973 when Don became associated with Fred Dally, Q.C. They practised as Dally and Elliott and that continued on well after Fred Dally retired.
Don conducts a general practice, with emphasis on litigation. He was appointed a Queen’s Counsel in December of 1983 and in the past he has acted as head of the Lambton Law Association and has been active in several stage plays that the lawyers have performed for charity since 1984.
Don is married to Virginia and has two children a son, Stephen, who lives in Toronto, and a daughter, April, who lives on Vancouver Island.
Laurie Gardiner, LL.B.
Laurie Gardiner was born in New Liskeard, Ontario but grew up in Kitchener-Waterloo and attended high school at KCI, in Kitchener. She started working for the Kitchener law firm of MacKinnon, Schnurr in 1986 as a receptionist/legal secretary and in 1994, moved to the Sarnia area.
Laurie started working as a law clerk for Donald Elliott in 1995. Then in 2001, while working full-time and raising her children, Laurie started attending the University of Waterloo part-time through distance education, working towards a Bachelor of Arts degree. She continued the part-time program through the University of Waterloo until she was accepted at the University of Windsor law school in 2009.
Laurie started law school full-time in September of 2009 and graduated in April of 2012. Laurie was called to the bar in June of 2013 after articling with Donald Elliott, Q.C.
Laurie lives with her spouse, Donald and has three children, a daughter, Amanda, who lives in Springville, New York; a son, Henry, who lives in Stoney Creek and her youngest daughter, Janelle, who just started College and lives in Windsor.
